Rodrigo Strong won an LAPT title in Chile earlier this year and he's heading in the right direction to take down a ESPT/UKIPT title here in Marbella as he just won two big pots to vault into the chip lead.
In the primary he shoved for 323,000 at the river of a 2♣T♠2♦5♣4♦ board and Darren Millar was the person with the verdict. There has been an identical amount already within the pot and at last Millar elected to call.
Strong showed J♣J♠ and a frustrated Millar opened A♣T♦. As Strong was still stacking chips he won another big pot against Jose Luis Gonzalez. With those back to back pots it's likely he'll finish the day as chip leader. --NW
7:30pm: More for GilmoreLevel 19 - Blinds 5,000/10,000 (1,000 ante)
Alan Gilmore just doubled through Pascal Hocquard in a premium hand v premium hand clash. Gilmore three-bet all-in for 128,000 with K♠K♥ and Hocquard, who was the unique raiser, called with J♦J♣.
A A♦9♦3♥4♣Q♥ board kept the cowboys ahead and left Hocquard with just 1.5 big blinds. --NW

Not much to report within the last QUARTER-HOUR. Probably the most significant action have been the large stack at each table buying the five hundred denomination chips and tournament staff chipping them up because the pink chips aren't any longer needed now the ante has risen to 1,000. --NW

He and Marko Simic made it to the turn with a board reading 8♣7♦K♣8♦ and a large pile of 5k chips within the middle. Mejias checked from the small unaware of see his big-stacked opponent set him in for his last 70,000. The Spaniard tanked after which called off with 9♣6♣ for an open-ended straight and flush draw. From early position Tomas Kubaliak shoved all-in for 88,000 and upon getting a count of the shove Jonathan Schuman re-raised all-in for just over 100,000. Everyone else folded:

The 8♠T♠A♠K♦A♥ board was a fun one to sweat (when you weren't within the hand) but if all was said and done Kubaliak doubled to about 200,000 whilst Schuman was left with only a few big blinds. --NW
6:30pm: Happy ending for LiperisLevel 18 - Blinds 4,000/8,000 (1,000 ante)
From early position Pablo Rojas raised it as much as 19,000 just for Yannis Liperis to re-raise all-in for 127,500 total. Rojas got a count but Liperis thought the dealer had miscounted his stack. "I ASSUMED I had about 140,000," he said to the dealer, who recounted his stack and verified it was 127,500.
"I don't love it," said Rojas who mulled over the verdict for a minute or so before folding 9♦9♠ face-up. Liperis showed pocket eights and Rojas said: "I ASSUMED together with your actions you were creating a movie."
Hollywood or not, Liperis took the pot. --NW
6:24pm: Carole sings her last songLevel 18 - Blinds 4,000/8,000 (1,000 ante)
Carole Segoura found a good looking hand to get her short stack, and there has been even some dead money within the pot too, but not much you are able to do if someone wakes up with aces behind you.
After an accidental limp under the gun, Segoura pushed with A♥K♥ from the cutoff. Olov Jansson found A♦A♠ within the small blind and made the decision before surviving a 7♣T♣7♥5♦K♦ board. -- MC
6:05pm: Liperis wins three-way potLevel 17 - Blinds 3,000/6,000 (1,000 ante)
Yannis Liperis allowed a wry smile to cross his face as he collected a pot that saw him go from 58,000 to around 165,000. Within the hand in question Jose Luis Gonzalez opened to 13,000, Liperis shoved for 58,000, Manuel Leal Borges moved all-in for 38,000 total and when it folded back round to Gonzalez he too made the call.

Liperis was drawing thin but connected best with the 8♠J♦3♠8♦5♣ board to eliminate Borges and all but triple his stack. --NW

6pm: Why does it usually Raine on Xie and Margets?Level 17 - Blinds 3,000/6,000 (1,000 ante)
While Neil Raine was making moves in a hand on one side of the room, Renee Xie and Leo Margets were busting in other parts of the room.
Raine raised to 13,000 from the cutoff and LAPT9 Chile champion Rodrigo Strong defended his big unaware of see a T♥A♥6♣ flop where both players checked. The turn was the 5♥ and robust led for 17,000. Raine raised to 50,000 but snap folded when Strong moved all-in.

No details on Margets' exit but Xie told the Blog that she busted blind on blind. Her opponent shoved into her with K-7 and he or she called all-in with A-7 but could'nt avoid a king. --MC

Rasmus Agerskov and Henrique Silva has been enjoying numerous light-hearted banter today. Maybe a bit of an excessive amount of as both got short and needed to make moves. The latter shoved into the former's big blind who made the decision all-in for 57,000.

The board ran K♣T♣Q♦A♣8♠. Lovely flop for the Dane and he avoided the turned flush draw to double.
Sliva was only left with a couple of thousand and he called all-in with Q♥T♦ the very next hand after an under-the-gun raise. His opponent had him crushed with pocket kings nevertheless it was Silva's turn to flop a straight because the board ran A♠J♠K♦6♣9♥. --MC

Morten Halvorsen got his chips in ahead but an opponent flopped him dead, meaning the Norwegian just missed out at the top 100.
Theodore Vives raised from under the gun after which called after Halvosen moved all-in for around 60,000 from the small blind.

One expected so much action this level after the protracted bubble period before the break. There are cries of all-in and calls from everywhere in the room.
One of the players to double was Pablo Martinez, who was right down to ten big blinds when he shoved from the cutoff. Yannis Liperis was within the big blind and made the call.

The bubble could have burst however the double ups continue, today is a great day to be a shortstack.
First to double up was Tamas Konya, he shoved with pocket tens and was in bad shape against the pocket queeens of Pablo Rojas. However the T♣J♦5♥J♥3♦ board favoured Konya. He's as much as around 160,000 whilst Rojas in right down to 72,000.
Then Bonifacio Martine Gonzalez got his final 30,000 in holding J♣T♥ and got there against Milos Skrbic's K♣Q♦ because the board ran 6♠T♣6♣T♦8♣. --NW
4:45pm: Davide Ferrari bubble the PokerStars Marbella FestivalLevel 16 - Blinds 2,500/5,000 (500 ante)
After this kind of long bubble period there's certain level of irony that a player called Davide Ferrari is the last player to go away with nothing.
He and Neil Raine were heads as much as the turn where the board read A♠Q♣J♣T♦. Ferrari led for 17,000 after which called all-in for around 120,000 after Raine shoved from the hijack.
Ferrari: K♦Q♥ for the straight.Raine: A♣K♣ for a similar straight, but with a flush redraw.
Raine was freerolling and the flush duly came in at the 7♣ river. Raine moved as much as 280,000. --MC

More doubles than a darts match now in Marbella as Rui Manuel Esteves Das Dores just became the 11th player to search out a double during hand for hand play.
He shoved for 60,500 at the river of a 6♠J♣T♦9♦6♥ board and Stanislav Koleno tank called. Esteves Das Dores showed T♣T♠ for the flopped set and Koleno could only muster J♠7♥. He drops to 120,000. --NW

There has been longer bubbles at the UKIPT/ESPT evidently but it's hard to keep in mind there ever being such a lot of double ups. Another hand saw two more of them.
James Mitchell thought he'd made lots more friends when he flopped a suite versus Miguel Riera however the latter turned a larger set. Mitchell had opened to 10,500 and called the shove worth 59,000.

The board ran 4♣9♣5♥K♣A♥ to make both players sets. Mitchell could only smile while Spanish players celebrated around him. --MC
4:20pm: Another hand and another double upLevel 16 - Blinds 2,500/5,000 (500 ante)
Vicente Delgado just played sherif, nevertheless it was he who was bang to rights.
I picked up the action at the river of a 6♠9♠5♦A♠3♣ board. There has been already 250,000 within the pot and Milos Skrbic had shoved for 193,000 total. Delgado was within the tank, and counted out the chips from his stack. He had 223,000 in total and finally settled on a call.
Skrbic quickly showed K♠8♠ for the nut flush and Delgado was forced to turn 8♦8♣. He's now short on chips. -- NW

This is beginning to go on just a little. Yet one more hand, two all-ins, and two double ups.
Leo Margets doubled Davide Sergio when her top pair was no match for the latter's turned straight and Jorn Mikkelsen somehow found the way to double through Angel Martinez.

While looking ahead to other hands to finish, Mikkelsen came upon from his tablemate's that the majority of the aces and queens weren't left within the deck however the 4♠6♣2♣3♣J♣ deck four flushed him to maintain him alive. --MC
3:55pm: It's raining double upsLevel 16 - Blinds 2,500/5,000 (500 ante)
The fourth hand of the bubble period had nothing at the fifth and there have been two more double ups.
First Miguel Riera doubled through Will Davies, with pocket tens against pocket nines. The Spaniard's shove was for 29,000.
Then it was Mathijs Janssen's turn. He'd shoved for 27,000 with A♠A♦ and was up against Morten Halvorsen's 9♦8♣. When it came to the reveal Janseen slammed his aces on teh felt and said: "I told you I had the most efficient hand, I HAVE the aces."
Many have angered the Poker Gods by celebrating early however the J♥4♠5♠J♣2♣ board meant Halvorsen survived to fight another day.
On the sixth hand of bubble play Peter Zandee found a double. He'd jammed for 47,000 from the small blind with A♣7♠ and Jesper Rasmussen made the decision with pocket fives. A seven at the river meant Zandee doubled and hand for hand play continues. --NW
3:50pm: Another doubleLevel 16 - Blinds 2,500/5,000 (500 ante)
The fourth hand of the bubble period brought another double up, this time for Mats Jungsand.
He and Remigiusz Wyrzykiewicz took to a A♦T♦K♠ flop where Jungsand led for 8,000. Call. The turn was the 8♠ and Jungsand moved all-in for 57,500. Wyrzykiewicz asked for a count after which called with A♣8♣ for a turned two pair. Jungsand was in trouble with A♥Q♥ however the J♥ came to his rescue and made him a straight. -- MC

3:35pm: Marin doubles at the bubbleLevel 15 - Blinds 2,000/4,000 (500 ante)
On the third hand of hand for hand play we had the primary all-in and contact. Pre-flop Nikola Ristivojevic - who had about 420,000 - raised to 12,000 and Carlos Manuel Marin, who had just 53,000 flat called from the large blind.
On the T♣J♥A♣ flop Marin led for 15,000, Ristivojevic set him in and, after about 20 seconds, Marin called all-in for 41,000 total. There then followed a protracted stay up for all of the other hands to be finished - wherein the blinds went as much as 2,500/5,000 (500 ante) - before the cards may well be revealed.
When they were turned over Ristivojevic revealed K♥3♥ whilst Marin held A♦K♣. The 2♦ turn and 9♣ river kept Marin in front and he survived. --NW

We're now at the stone bubble here in Marbella.
Tamas Eredics is the player who's exited in 129th place. He shoved for approximately 40,000 with 7♦7♠ and ran smack into Sergio Soler's pocket kings. A 8♣J♦5♠5♥J♣ board meant the cowboys held up. --NW
3:15pm: Kully culledLevel 15 - Blinds 2,000/4,000 (500 ante)
Juan Carlos Bixquert and Jonathan Spaeren took it in turns to take all of Kully Sidhu's stack, eliminating him only a few spots of the money.
Bixquert's A♦6♥ stayed sooner than Sidu's K♣Q♦, the former's hand making two pair on a 2♣6♣7♠A♠8♠ board. He was all-in for 31,000. A COUPLE OF hands later, Sidhu lost his last 50,000 holding J♥J♠. Spaeren's A♠Q♥ flopped a couple on a board that ran 4♦T♠Q♠A♣8♣. The chips went in preflop.
The clock was paused while the employees double check the volume of players left in, and hand for hand play could begin at 129, two off the money. -- MC
3pm: Five from the moneyLevel 15 - Blinds 2,000/4,000 (500 ante)
Two exits in quick succession mean 132 players remain, so the players are only five off the cash now.
First to move was Mihaita Croitoru, he committed his chips at the turn of a Q♦T♦4♠8♦ board with Q♣9♣ but bumped into the nut flush of Sergio Soler and was drawing dead. Soler is as much as 490,000 and one of the vital chip leaders.
And Lucas Blanco - who we earlier reported as being out - may be very much in as he's as much as 400,000 after eliminating Ezequiel Macho. The latter shoved for 58,000 with A♥Q♣ and Blanco called him with pocket kings. A 5♥9♥7♠4♠5♣ board meant Macho headed to the rail. --NW

Olov Jansson didn't actually say this to Carole Segoura however the cards did all of the talking. The Swede's better kicker enabled him to win their duel and rise to 242,000; Segoura dropped to 35,000.
She opened to 12,000 from the cutoff and Jansson called to peer a T♠K♠A♦ flop where both players checked. The board ran out 5♣2♦ with Jansson betting 13,000 and 16,000 on each street. Segoura called both times and was shown A♠J♣. She showed the A♥ and mucked --MC

2:40pm: Margets vs SidhuLevel 15 - Blinds 2,000/4,000 (500 ante)
Leo Margets has taken a piece out of Kully Sidhu's and risen to around 180,000 in consequence. Sidhu dropped to 45,000 as a consequence.
Around 130,000 chips had made it into the center of the table by the tip of the flop action. Both players went directly to check the turn and a K♠5♦3♠K♣5♠ board rested at the river. Margets was within the big blind and led for 42,000. Sidhu folded. --MC

The opening two levels of Day 2 are over and the players was released out into the wild, ok not the wild, but outside. --NW
1:50pm: Oluwole left shortLevel 14 - Blinds 1,500/3,000 (400 ante)
Seun Oluwole is right down to only a few big blinds after losing a large pot against Even Mikkelsen. All of it went in pre-flop with Mikkelsen in danger for 73,600 with A♣A♥. Oluwole had a large hand too but his A♦K♣ was in big trouble. The 9♣K♠Q♠6♣Q♥ board gave him some hope but ultimately kept Mikkelsen in front.
After that hand Oluwole was left with just 8,700. --NW
1:40pm: Monroe at the slideLevel 14 - Blinds 1,500/3,000 (400 ante)
Start of day chip leader Kevin Monroe was shaking his head after he lost a large race. Day 2 has not been kind to the Irishman as far as his stack has dropped to 152,000.
He was at the button and tanged with Sergio Veloso within the small blind, who had around 68,000. The chips went in preflop.

David Dancey is as much as 75,000 after doubling through Diego Gomez. The Spaniard's cards were already face down by the point I arrived on the table but Dancey's were still showing. He'd got his final 35,000 in with pocket tens and hung on a J♦6♠2♥4♥K♦ board. Gomez is all the way down to 110,000. --NW

We wrote that Vicente Delgado had work to do after a nasty begin to Day 2. Well, he's all smiles now after rebounding as much as 90,000.
Another Day 1C player happy in this day and age is Renee Xie, who's turned 34,000 into 120,000. She told the Blog that she won enough money playing cash yesterday to freeroll an afternoon 1C entry, and got through. "I came back with 15 big blinds and located a double up!" --MC

Always nice to get your chips in with a dominating hand and that was the spot Miguel Riera found himself in precisely a little while ago. He re-raised all-in for 31,200 with K♣K♠ and Darren Millar - who had opened with K♦Q♠ - called the additional to to position the Spaniard at risk.
The 6♣5♥8♦9♠9♥ board kept Riera in front and he doubled to around 70,000 whilst Millar drops to 124,700. --NW

Vicente Delgado was one players who made it through to Day 2 on the second attempt, surviving the turbo Day 1C that ran last night. He turned 25,000 into 56,000 but he's backtrack to around 27,000 already here on Day 2.
He opened to 5,200 from middle position and was called by Samain Dorronsoro at the button and Fernando Javier Garcia within the big blind. The flop fanned 6♦6♥2♣ and Delgado continued for 6,200. Garcia check-called before the 2 of them checked the 7♠8♣ turn and river down. Garcia opened 5♦2♥ and Delgado mucked. --MC

Luuk Gieles was first player to go away today. The Dutchman came back with only 17,000 they usually were sucked up by Janina Burger.
Moments later Kevin Whelan thought he was out too. The Liverpool man opened to 10,600 from second position after which called after Daniel Gomez moved all-in for 46,700 from the following seat.

The board ran 6♥9♥9♠Q♥6♠. Whelan was keeping off but he was called back as he still had 2,000 chips left.
Minus his 300 ante, he moved all-in for 1,700 the very next hand and managed to quadruple up with J♣7♣ on a 4♣3♥J♦7♦K♦. The comeback is on! -- MC

Play has started. We're told that today will include seven levels. We've upped the clock to 1 hour levels now in order that should mean play ends around 8pm. Quite a few time for the players to eat and prepare for the player party which begins at 8.30pm and can involve a large screen showing the Spain v Turkey match that starts at 9pm. --NW

Welcome back to Day 2 of what's officially the most important ever UKIPT Marbella main event. 151 players entered last night's turbo Day 1C to take the whole collection of runners to 844, eclipsing last year's record of 841.
The likes of Kuljinder Sidhu, Renee Xie, Vicente Delgado and Mateusz Moolhuizen all got through on the second attempt and take their place among 241 Day 2 runners. Over half those players gets paid with 127 players earning at least €1,700 whilst the winner will take home €151,350.

David Wilkes, 54, has probably covered more miles to come back to UKIPT events than any prior finalist, flying over from his home in Spain for just about they all. His favourite places to play was Barcelona and Dublin, beautiful cities both, the latter with "the most efficient banter," although he tries to wait a minimum of one live poker festival every couple of months. Wilkes, now retired, have been playing poker for seven years ("four of them properly") after starting out in cash games and small weekly tournaments, and has cashed once or twice in UKIPT events, although this represents his biggest live win to date
Graham Parkin, 46, a self-described cash game grinder (now based here though originally from Kidderminster) started to play seriously around five years ago, that specialize in No Limit Hold'em cash two years ago. Parkin reminisces about his experiences on the UKIPT: "Just how much fun they are, and friendly - we've got numerous banter always". Parkin has made multiple final table of deep-stacked live events, racking up over $50,000 in cashes since 2011, but should he win the principle Event here it'll represent his biggest tournament prize to date.
London-based businessman Jeremy Wray played his first UKIPT long ago in Season 1 and says: "I LIKE live events and that i couldn't miss the last one. I'd love to win the last one - that is the reason for entering." Poker may be very much a hobby for Wray as his business interests and five children keep him busy. For Wray, poker is ready the intellectual challenge and he says he likes playing against better players than himself. You'll often find him playing for higher stakes at the EPT and his largest live cash to this point came on the PCA in 2014 where he finished 22nd for just over $60,000. Wray has ridden the emotional rollercoaster to get thus far and after you have unlucky at the first hand of play on Day 2 when he had jacks cracked by tens, but he cracked aces right back to survive.
Nathan Webb is a 35 year old head of finance, who's played poker recreationally for over a decade before turning his mind (and whatever free time he has what with an entire time career and 15 month old daughter) to the study of the sport. From reading Harrington to winning $2,000 in a WCOOP event a year ago, Webb waited for the Birmingham UKIPT stop to roll around to make use of this bankroll to play his first ever live Main Event. His patience has paid off as he's come straight through to the final, having finished Day 1 as overall chip leader (although not without periods he describes as "a grind - hard work!"
Ludovic Geilich, UKIPT4 Marbella winner and recently-crowned WCOOP PLO 6-Max High Roller champion is among the most well-known players at the UKIPT. From a background of near-professional snooker as a teenager, Geilich discovered poker in private clubs in Glasgow where he split his time playing and dealing as a dealer. He built and lost a bankroll repeatedly over - as he says, "rinse and repeat" - until finally his bankroll management caught up along with his talent and because his win in Spain has taken shots at big tournaments worldwide, meanwhile learning from his mistakes. "I learned when to not put the foot down," he admits, "Although I still love to put the foot down." Expect a large rail and shouts of "Lu-do!" should he look just about taking his second title.
David Clarkson is a UK and Ireland Poker Tour regular, and although he has a facet event win and half-a-dozen other cashes to his name, that is his first appearance on a UKIPT Main Event final table. To win would mean his biggest live cash thus far but he has a larger one within the online arena having cashed for $72,000 when he won a SCOOP event on PokerStars this year. "I WOULD LIKE to be the last ever winner of a UKIPT," Clarkson said on a break before the general table. He heads to the general second in chips, his online and live experience combining to make him a powerful opponent.
Ted Jackson-Spivack turned 24 today and says: "IT IS GOING TO be an even birthday whatever happens, but winning the tournament will be the best present ever." He's already locked up his biggest live cash which comes as no surprise as he's usually to be found playing mixed games online on PokerStars. He went to college with fellow mixed game stud Adam Owen and the 2 of them honed their skills during break time before graduating via freerolls to real money play. It's greater than paid off for him as he now plays full time and this September he had his biggest online cash thus far when he finished third in a WCOOP PLO/8 event winning over $12,500. In addition to playing UKIPT events he travels to EPT stops where he mostly plays the mixed game tournaments on offer.
Krishna Nagaraju, 37, used to play three-card poker in India, before catching the live game bug from his Icelandic roommate in Denmark and moving directly to play regularly in London, the town he now calls home. From this idiosyncratic beginning, Nagaraju reckons he's been playing seriously live for around three years, mainly at PokerStars LIVE on the Hippodrome Casino. Working in business development in London, he has still managed to rack up 16 live cashes this year, amassing over $100,000 in winnings. Though he can have been a UKIPT regular as much as this point, he says he is probably not playing so frequently as his wife is expecting and gave him strict instructions to win this event.

With the entire drama that this past year has seen with Daily Fantasy Sports, TriStar Pictures thought it was a great idea to show the chaotic industry right into a movie. TriStar Pictures is a subsidiary of Sony and relies out of California. They optioned the rights to an upcoming book released on DFS. TriStar may have first dibs on “The Big Game”, Sports Illustrated writer Albert Chen’s book. The book is predicted to hit e-readers and shelves sometime in 2017.
