Lawsuit Accuses Online Poker Room Full Tilt of Basing in US

Full Tilt, one of the most popular Internet poker operators, is being sued in California for supposedly using software bots disguised as players to win hands on the site, and for accusing legitimate players of operating as bots themselves.

Play Now at Slots Oasis! An online poker player has filed a lawsuit against operator Full Tilt, in which the company is accused of being controlled from within the US and using software to control hand results. Lary Kennedy, a Full Tilt patron, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court against the company and pro players Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey, and Chris "Jesus" Ferguson.

Since the scandals at Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet, online gambling customers have been worried about software manipulation of Internet games. Kennedy alleges that bots are playing hands at Full Tilt with the knowledge and participation of the poker site.

Kennedy also says that Full Tilt has used a zero-tolerance policy instituted after the cheating scandals at the other poker rooms to accuse legitimate players of being bots, and seizing their money. Kennedy says this happened both to her and other players.

The pros are included in the suit because they are named on the site as having contributed to Full Tilt's design, and Kennedy says they are the controlling force behind the popular online poker room.

Full Tilt has asserted that it is regulated by the Kahanwake Gaming Commission, on Indian land in Canada.

PCA 2015: Roomies Schulz and Jaka still pursuing PCA prizes

SLOTMAGIC777 is Your $100 FREE Redeem code use banner
panthercasino.com sport betting and casino

The afternoon is edging away here at the Atlantis. The once-packed Imperial Ballroom is still active with remaining side events and our two marquee final tables. But time is running out in Paradise.

Unfortunately for two of the final five in the PCA Main Event, their days have concluded, leaving but three to battle for the trophy and $1,491,580 prize.

Down under 20 big blinds, Juan Martin Pastor at last found what appeared a prime spot with A♣K♦, but alas for the Argentinian Kevin Schulz woke up with A♥A♦ on the button. Five cards later Pastor's PCA Main Event had moved into the past tense, with $380,720 his prize for finishing fifth.

How was the often-smiling Pastor afterwards? Still smiling.

"I'm happy," he said, referring in particular to all of the encouragement he received during his run both here and online. "I love when people are supporting me."

Pastor had a significant crowd here cheering him on, and while they didn't quite match the loudness of those at the end-of-year party marking his achieving Supernova Elite we were chronicling a couple of days back, they nonetheless added some revelry from the rail.

Online the tweets and messages were constant this afternoon for Pastor, in part because he sold 1% of his action to close friends and students he coaches. "I received like millions of messages supporting me," he grinned, then explained how he'll be found back on the LAPT as well as online playing cash games -- "which is my job."

Juan Martin Pastor - 5th place

The hand extended Schulz's lead, but soon after the German Niklas Hambitzer surged ahead of Schulz not long after a clash between them in which an ace in his hand and two more on the flop proved a Hambitzer helper.

Diego Ventura then doubled a short stack through Chance Kornuth, continuing to chip up thereafter. Kornuth responded by claiming more four-handed pots, moving back to the top of the counts while Hambitzer slipped back again to become fourth of four, then Schulz pushed back ahead -- becoming the first to 10 million.

The back-and-forthing continued, with Kornuth consistently the most active and agressive. Not to keep drawing on the obvious pun, but with the hindsight benefit of delayed cards-up coverage, it was Chance taking the most chances -- such as when hero-calling with queen-high a river bet by Schulz.

Before long Schulz was over 14 million, nearly three times that of his nearest foe. Kornuth then doubled through Hambitzer, his ace-seven fading the latter's king-jack. There was drama, though, as both a king and seven flopped, but a lucky seven fell on fifth street to save Kornuth.

A Ventura open and a button call from Schulz then elicted a squeeze-shove from Hambitzer, and only Schulz came along. The German's ace-queen appeared solid versus Schulz's queen-nine, but two nines by the turn left Hambitzer drawing dead, and the last European of the tournament was out in fourth for $482,820.

Niklas Hambitzer - 4th place

It was a hard-luck end for Hambitzer, although for just his second live tournament it had to be a satisfying result.

While anything can happen, Schulz's big advantage positions him well with three to go.

Meanwhile on the neighboring table, Schulz's roommate here in the Bahamas, Faraz Jaka, is still battling at the High Roller final table.

Our Sarah Herring spoke with Jaka about his journey from the bottom of the counts to start the day to average-stack status to begin the High Roller final table, as well as his support of Schulz over in the Main. Take a look:

Caesars Scores Win In Bankruptcy Process

SLOTMAGIC777 is Your $100 FREE Redeem code use banner
panthercasino.com sport betting and casino

Caesars Entertainment Corp. can have the bankruptcy process for one of its units happen in the city of Chicago, a federal judge in Delaware decided Wednesday, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

The ruling was seen as a victory for the company, which has billions in debt.

Caesars Entertainment Operating Co. has $18.4 billion in debt, and the bankruptcy process will eliminate about $10 billion of it. Caesars wants to convert CEOC into a publicly traded real estate investment trust, the RJ reported.

The CEOC unit controls Caesars Palace, Caesars Atlantic City, Harrah’s Reno and more than a dozen other properties in the United States.

Here’s why moving it to Chicago is seen as a win for Caesars:

Creditor attorneys had said that Caesars filed in Illinois partly because it will be easier to shield company officials there from lawsuits over what they allege were improper transfers to shield the operating unit’s assets from creditors, The Associated Press reported.

A majority of Caesars was purchased in 2006—the height of casino gaming revenue in Las Vegas and Atlantic City—by Apollo Global Management and TPG Capital, both of which reportedly benefit from the bankruptcy process being in Chicago.

A group of hedge fund creditors led by Appaloosa Management are the losers.

Caesars has revenue of about $8.5 billion annually, which trails industry leader Las Vegas Sands Corp. and its more than $14 billion in annual revenue.

China's Visa Limits for Macau Casino Gambling Eased, Says Wynn

SLOTMAGIC777 is Your $100 FREE Redeem code use banner
panthercasino.com sport betting and casino

Casino operator Steve Wynn told reporters that the Chinese government is allowing its citizens to visit the gambling enclave of Macau three times as frequently as earlier in the year.

Steve Wynn says the restrictions the Chinese government put on travel to Macau are being cut back, allowing a return to more tourists visiting casinos and gambling in the city. Wynn told a news conference that Chinese citizens living in Guangdong, the province closest to Macau, are now permitted to visit once a month, rather than once every three months.

Wynn is in a position to need optimistic views of Macau, as he prepares a $1.6 billion IPO offering equity in Wynn Resorts holdings in Macau. The offer will be made on the Hong Kong exchange, and will finance continued Wyn gambling expansion into Macau, among other needs.

Wynn said the Chinese government made the visa adjustments after reviewing the effects the slowdown on tourism had on the Macau economy.

The visa limits were placed on Chinese travelers to Macau for several reasons. The absurd rate of growth in Macau before the visa limitations was causing stress to the area's infrastructure and labor pool, which could not keep up with the casino expansion.

China also wanted to slow the flow of dollars from China to the casino operators, several of which are US companies, including Wynn Resorts.

If Chinese tourist number rise again, Macau casino gambling can expect to see another wave of gaming projects resumed and completed within the next several years.

LAPT8 Bahamas: Meet the final eight

panthercasino.com sport betting and casino

The first final table of Season 8 of the Latin American Poker Tour is here. From 736 entries just eight players remain, bringing to the table a variety of backgrounds and poker experience, including a lot of considerable results.

It's an eclectic group, but they all have one item in common -- it's the first LAPT event for each.

Final Table-LAPT-Monti-1053.jpg

Here's a little more about each of the final eight:

Seat 1: Taylor Paur (United States) -- 1,732,000

Taylor Paur-LAPT-Monti-1077.jpg

Taylor Paur

Paur is a 26-year-old professional poker player from San Diego who has earned nearly $1.4 million in live tournaments over the past five years.  He won a WSOP bracelet in 2013 in a $1,000 no-limit hold'em event, beating out a field of 2,071 to earn a first-prize of $340,260. Known as "tRaMp$d0PrAy" on PokerStars, Paur has collected numerous online accomplishments including a victory in the Super Tuesday just two months ago.  Paur lists golf and basketball among his hobbies.

Seat 2: Stefan Jedlicka (Austria) -- 1,521,000

Stefan Jedlicka-LAPT-Monti-0981.jpg

Stefan Jedlicki

Jedlicka is a well-known pro from Vienna with more than $560,000 in lifetime tournament winnings. Known as "mindgamer" online, the 29-year-old's biggest live result to date was winning a €2,000 event in Vienna five years ago for €131,720.  His brother Nikolaus is also a top player who came to fame when he made the final of EPT Barcelona in Season 4, and it was through his brother and "Magic, the Gathering" that Stefan came to poker. When away from the tables, Jedlicka enjoys sports and watching TV. He won his seat online on PokerStars in a $22 rebuy event and also qualified for the PCA Main Event.

Seat 3: Jonathan Borenstein (United States) -- 928,000

Jonathan Borestein-LAPT-Monti-1018.jpg

Jonathan Borenstein

Borenstein is a 25-year-old player from New Jersey who has collected just over $115,000 in career tourney earnings, mostly in Atlantic City and on the east coast of the U.S.  He cites his home game as his biggest poker influence, and with a seventh-place finish or higher will register his largest live tourney cash to date.

Seat 4: Jose Carlos Garcia (Poland) -- 2,359,000

Jose Carlos Garcia-LAPT-Monti-1090.jpg

Jose Carlos Garcia

Garcia is an EPT regular and well-known Polish player (despite the very Spanish name!).  The 21-year-old enjoys sports and has been playing poker for five years, now considering himself both a live and online player.  He is currently ranked #8 on Poland's all-time money list.  His biggest result to date was winning an EPT9 Sanremo €2k side event for €58,900 and runner-up in a €2k side event at EPT8 Madrid for €43,850.  He also made the final of the €2k Estrellas High Roller at EPT11 Barcelona in August, finishing seventh for €40,000.  His live tournament winnings to date are nearly $450,000.

Seat 5: Mustapha Kanit (Italy) -- 1,257,000

Mustafa Kanit-LAPT-Monti-1008.jpg

Mustapha Kanit

Kanit is a 23-year-old live and online poker pro who has been playing the game for five years, picking up more than $2.5 million in live tourney winnings during that period. He won Italian Player of the Year at EPT Sanremo back in 2011 when he was only 19. Now residing in London, Kanit's biggest live triumphs include victories on the Italian Poker Tour and at the Aussie Millions, WSOP final tables, and several EPT scores, with his biggest career cash coming here at the PCA one year ago when he finished fourth in the $25,000 High Roller for a $492,600 cash.  He also has numerous online triumphs, including a SCOOP win last spring worth more than $350,000.  As his PokerStars nickname "lasagnaaammm" perhaps suggests, he enjoys good food while traveling.

Seat 6: Josh Kay (United States) -- 2,760,000

Josh Kay-LAPT-Monti-0964.jpg

Josh Kay

Kay is a Michigan native who currently lives in Boca Raton, Florida. He turned 28 just a few days ago (December 30th) and has lifetime live tournament winnings of around $110,000. His biggest result so far was runner-up in a tourney in Philadelphia for $50,000. If he finishes seventh or better in this, it will give him a lifetime best cash.  Known as "Mapquest23" online, Kay cites Chris Moneymaker as his biggest poker influence.  When not playing he enjoys sports and spending time with family.

Seat 7: Martin Finger (Germany) -- 1,992,000

Martin Finger-LAPT-Monti-0966.jpg

Martin Finger

Known online as "Opiggybank," Finger is a 24-year-old German now residing in Vienna, Austria whose biggest accomplishment in poker came in October 2013 when he won the EPT10 London Super High Roller for £ 821,000. That victory made him the only player who has won two Shamballa bracelets at EPT events. He picked up his first for taking down EPT Prague in 2011, topping a field of 722 to earn a €720,000 payday.  He also earned a WSOP bracelet in 2013 in a $3,000 no-limit hold'em six-handed event, picking up just over $500,000 for besting an 807-player field.  Finger has more than $4.4 million in live tournament earnings, all within the last five years. Until yesterday, he was the only player to have won an EPT Super High Roller and a Main Event; Steve O'Dwyer now joins that roster after taking down the PCA Super High Roller.

Seat 8: Dimitar Danchev (Bulgaria) -- 1,894,000

Dimitar Danchev--LAPT-Monti-0998.jpg

Dimitar Danchev

Danchev is yet another decorated pro coming to this final table, his live tournament career highlighted by a win in the PCA Main Event here at the Atlantis two years ago when he bested a field of 987 to earn a huge $1.59 million first prize.  The 29-year-old Bulgarian prefers cash games to tourneys, although has other big live tourney results to boast of as well including a second-place finish in the EPT Sanremo Main Event in Season 8 and a couple of near-miss final table finishes at the WSOP.  His almost $3.5 million in career tourney earnings easily make him Bulgaria's highest-earning tourney player (by more than $2 million).

APPT8 Auckland Day 2: Swings and roundabouts

panthercasino.com sport betting and casino

Poker is a game of extreme ebbs and flows. Some days it all comes so easily. The cards just fall your way and you just sit there on cruise control. Others you have to fight and scrap for every pot you can, just to keep your head above water. Then there are the days were just nothing goes right.

The beauty of the game is that we're seeing the complete range of those experiences, and everything in between, all mixed together at once in our tournament field. It's those who can adapt to their situations the best who will emerge from the pack.

As we tick down to our final 50 players, entering into the third level of the day, we've already seen some extreme examples of being able to hand whatever the poker Gods throw at you.

Firstly, we should start with our current chip leader, Australian pro and former ANZPT Adelaide runner-up Jesse "On The Mac" McKenzie.

jesse_mckenzie_appt_auckland.jpg

McKenzie was down to less than 5,000 in chips yesterday on day one of play. His tournament was down on the canvas and the ref had started the ten count. But McKenzie found pocket aces just in the nick of time to land a life-saving double up. Then a strange thing happened. He got dealt pocket aces the very next hand and doubled up again. Easy game!

The tide has continued to turn in McKenzie's direction here on Day 2 as he won a huge pot in the early goings when he was all in with a pair and flush draw against an overpair. The turn gave McKenzie a flush and his opponent a set, but McKenzie was able to fade the river to double through and climb into the chip lead.

While it's been smooth sailing for McKenzie, over on Table 8, Norwegian Simen Romslo has been forced to work for his chips. In a recent pot, we witnessed Romslo faced with a decision for his tournament life on a board of 5♠2♥9♦3♠T♦. Romslo only held A♥Q♣ for ace-high but his spidey-senses were tingling as he called it off, only for his opponent to show jack-high.

"If you're going to report on that hand, you have to say I'm from Norway," laughed Romslo. Those sicko Scandis!

At the other end of the scale is the tournament fan favourite Brotha D. Yesterday the former APPT Auckland champ ran pocket kings into pocket aces to cripple his stack, yet he hung tough and survived the day.

brotha_d_appt8_auckland2.jpg

On Day 2, Brotha D has been able to run up his stack in the early stages before a similar situation unfolded. This time it was Brotha D with the aces against an opponent's pocket kings, but unfortunately an evil king landed on board. Aces versus kings twice and Brotha D was on the losing side both times! Sometimes there's just nothing you can do! Yet Brotha D is still in contention with a little less than an average stack and fighting like a true champion.

Some days the cards go your way, and some days they don't. It who handles the swings the best will usually come out on top.
