A couple of Americans fell during Level 22. Daniel Strelitz was felted shortly after the start of the level in 16th ($16,340), then followed to the rail near level's end by Barry Hutter in 15th ($18,280).
Hutter's elimination hand began with an opening raise to 32,000 (a little over 2x) by Jose Carlos Garcia from early position, after which Stefan Jedlicka made it 75,000 to go from a seat over. It folded to Hutter in the blinds who shoved for around 350,000, and after Garcia repushed Jedlicka stepped aside.
Garcia had Q♦Q♠ while Hutter was way behind with 3♠3♦. The Q♥5♠4♦ flop put Hutter even further behind, although the 7♠ turn did provide straight hopes. Fifth street brought the J♦, however, and Hutter was out.
The final 14 reached the end of the level and at the break Dimitar Danchev still led the way with 2.05 million, Jedlicka was next with about 1.95 million, Joshua Kay third with about 1.55 million, and Mustafa Kanit next with just over 1.3 million.
Meanwhile Kyle Frey (385,000), Max Greenwood (315,000), and Aaron Massey (290,000) returned to the short stacks.
The players have been told that Level 23 will indeed be the last one played tonight, so we'll soon see how many from these 14 make it to the end of Day 2.
