A question I keep getting asked is, "What was the highlight of your summer?"
You might think it is a tough one as such a lot of awesome things happened. Three things that had never happened to me before happened this summer. I won two bracelets for the primary time in my career, I'VE a pleasant piece of a November-Niner, and that i won WSOP Player of the Year.
However, all three of those awesome things pale compared to the 2 most special moments of my summer.
The first of those was having my Dad see me win the 10K Horse. It was the primary time he was capable of be there to peer me win a bracelet. My parents just happened to be on the town once I made the run within the 10k horse event. My dad even got to make a speech on Fathers' Day and present me with my fifth gold bracelet, which was extremely touching for me and a moment I'll never forget.
After winning the 10k Horse and securing #2 for the summer, I MADE UP MY MIND it was time to shop for a hoop. I BELIEVED it might be this type of perfect opportunity if I were to capture my third bracelet after which drop to at least one knee when Natasha inevitably would run as much as congratulate me. Well, identical to in life, things don't always go exactly in step with plan. After the pony win, I went deep in a couple of more tournaments only to return up wanting having this perfect proposal opportunity.
An 8th, 11th, 26th, 30th, and 36th were as close as I MAY get to sniffing that third bracelet of the summer. So when Natasha made it to the general day of the last 5k NL event of the summer, guaranteeing herself a six figure score and potentially her biggest cash of her career, I knew this was going to be the very best moment to do it.
I proposed to her after she got knocked out in third place. She was already extremely proud of the score, but I knew there has been a small level of disappointment in getting knocked out. All that disappointment flew out the window after I dropped to 1 knee though. It was an especially special moment for us, and was especially awesome that she had no idea it was coming. She loves surprises and presents (what girl doesn't?), and this was the most productive gift I MAY ever give to her, and by chance for me- she said yes!
Having now been home in Florida for just about a week, we're beginning to plan our wedding, that is exciting and a little bit overwhelming together. It is going to be a captivating following few months of the year, as we move towards getting married. I'm planning to maintain on that heavy grind that I HAVE BEEN on for all of 2016. There is a big series here in Florida coming up, and right when it ends I'm off to EPT Barcelona - my favorite stop of the year.
It was an out of this world summer, probably the most profitable one among my career, and i am hoping to maintain that positive momentum going moving forward. There's still plenty more I NEED to perform in my career, and having a partner who understands me, loves me, and supports me regardless of what, makes it appear to be I WILL accomplish anything I put my mind towards.
