It was a really perfect Tuesday final table that had a little everything. There have been a couple of coolers, some big clashes, the odd suck out, and the chip leader entering the overall table was the primary to be eliminated. There have been moments of lull after which a few rapid-fire eliminations to maintain everyone on their toes, and in spite of everything it was Poeira4 who was the only left standing. The player from Portugal overcame every obstacle to take down the Super Tuesday crown and a huge six-figure pay day.
The weekly $1,050 Super Tuesday brought together a field of 571 to provide a prize pool of $571,000. The highest 72 players would finish within the money with a min-cash worth $1,884.30.
Team PokerStars Pros Max Lykov and Christian de León were early casualties, while Johnny Lodden and Nacho Barbero narrowly missed the money. However they weren't as on the subject of the money because the UK's scott2811 who was our bubble in 73rd place.
With $1,884.30 locked up, the rest players surged towards the overall table. Team Online's Mickey Petersen bowed out in 19th when he lost a race with A♣K♦ against pocket sevens. Petersen caught an ace at the flop but a devastating two-outer seven-ball at the turn sent Petersen home with $3,426 in prize money.
Petersen didn't quite win the last more with Brazilian Andre Akkari creating a deep run on the Super Tuesday crown. Akkari would get right down to around ten big blinds which he committed on a steal with K♥5♣. apostolis20 made the decision with A♥7♠, and despite Akkari spiking a king at the turn, it wasn't enough when an ace from space landed at the river to eliminate Akkari in 15th place for $5,710.
It would take almost nine and a half hours of grinding, and a chronic final table bubble before our final nine were decided. apostolis20 was the fast stack but managed to double up with ten players left, before AaronBeen shoved ace-jack into TaiwanStyle's pocket queens. The board brought no help, leaving AaronBeen at the rail in 10th place as our final table was formed:
Final Table Line up
Seat 1: TaiwanStyle (472,551 in chips)
Seat 2: HeroCall123 (229,438 in chips)
Seat 3: Poeira4 (455,847 in chips)
Seat 4: apostolis20 (132,048 in chips)
Seat 5: kleath (410,109 in chips)
Seat 6: gnetaren (172,558 in chips)
Seat 7: shermanash (548,216 in chips)
Seat 8: soprano1989 (215,638 in chips)
Seat 9: deuces85 (218,595 in chips)
The final table blinds kicked off at 4,000/8,000/1,000 so there has been a number of game time ahead for our final tablists. apostolis20 was at the short stack with shermanash holding the chip lead, however that quickly changed when an enormous pot erupted between shermanash and kleath.
shermanash raised under the gun before kleath three-bet. shermanash moved all in and kleath made the decision with pocket queens. shermanash tabled ace-king but couldn't connect to the board to peer the chip lead pass hands.
kleath was running hot, cracking the million chip mark with a flush against Poeira4, while the autumn from grace continued for shermanash. After deuces85 opened with a raise, shermanash moved all in with A♥Q♦ with deuces85 making the decision with J♣J♠. The board of J♥K♦7♦K♣9♦ brought a ship for deuces85 to peer the one-time chip leader in shermanash sail away in 9th place for $8,736.30.
kleath's reign on the top was dropped at an abrupt halt when Poeira4 doubled through with pocket aces against kleath's pocket tens, but kleath was capable of get some chips back with the rather fortunate elimination of gnetaren:
gnetaren gave the look of doubling up but kleath got lucky to look gnetaren out in 8th place for $12,847.50 in prize money.
apostolis20 was blinding out looking for a hand and was eventually committed from the large blind. Poeira4 raised the small blind with 5♦2♦ as apostolis20 was all in from the large blind with A♣K♦ only to look at in horror because the board landed 4♣8♦6♥3♣3♦. Poeira4 made a straight to eliminate apostolis20 in 7th place for $18,557.50.
Two hands later and soprano1989 had blinded right down to virtually nothing. From the small blind, soprano1989 tossed in what was left against both deuces85 and Poeira4. The 2 live players checked down the board of J♥8♦3♠6♥9♠ with Poeira4's A♠8♣ pipping deuces85's Q♣8♥ as soprano1989's cards went straight into the muck. soprano1989 picked up $24,267.50 for 6th place.
The carnage continued the very next hand as HeroCall123 made a move on the exact wrong time. In a battle of the blinds, HeroCall123 three-bet jammed J♥T♥ but ran smack-bang into TaiwanStyle's A♠A♥. The board of 4♠2♦9♣6♥2♠ brought no surprises, leaving HeroCall123 to take home an excessively tidy $30,834 for 5th place.
kleath and Poeira4 were out in front because the four players took a moment to catch their breath following the former rapid-fire eliminations.
The chips were passed around for several orbits before TaiwanStyle clashed with Poeira4. TaiwanStyle squeezed all in with 6♣6♥ but couldn't get Poeira4 off 7♦7♠. The interesting board of A♥A♦Q♥Q♦2♦ counterfeited both players, and with the brick at the river, Poeira4's seven kicker was enough to take the pot. TaiwanStyle headed home with $43,967 for 4th place.
Poeira4 was out in front, but kleath closed the space after removing deuces85 from the equation over two consecutive hands. The primary would see kleath double through with a couple of sixes holding against deuces85 overcards and flush draw, before deuces85 moved all in next hand with 3♦3♥. kleath showed 6♣6♠ and there have been no two-outers at the board of K♣2♥5♥9♣J♥. AN IDEAL run by deuces85 led to 3rd place for a $58,242 score.
Heads-up Chip Counts
Seat 3: Poeira4 (2,019,737 in chips)
Seat 5: kleath (835,263 in chips)
Poeira4 had a powerful lead over kleath when heads-up play commenced but kleath was in a position to chip away on the deficit within the early stages. But the first major clash between the 2 players would even be the last.
After a single preflop raise, the action unfolded on a flop of 5♠4♠3♦ with a sequence of raises committing all the chips into the center. kleath held 6♦5♦ for high pair and a straight draw but that trailed the A♣2♠ of Poeira4 who had flopped the wheel! The turn was the K♣ and the river was the 6♥ but two pair wasn't enough for kleath who must be content with finishing runner-up for $79,083.50. Congratulations to Poeira4 who collects $107,919 and the title of Super Tuesday champion!
