With so many super high roller poker tournaments on offer these days it is easy to forget just how incredible these events are. The average annual wage for a full time adult worker in Australia was $77,168 AUD according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. That means that in the 2016 Aussie Millions $100,000 AUD challenge, players were putting up more than the average person in the host country made in a year just to play one tournament. This year 41 entries were made, creating a prize pool worth over $4 million AUD. The eventual champion is set to walk away with $1,446,480 AUD, or roughly 19 years worth of work for the average Australian.

From the 41 total entries only six players now remain to battle it out for the title and the aforementioned huge sum of money.

The chip leader heading into the final table is Ben Tollerene with 1,522,000. Known as “Bttech86” online, Tollerene is a high stakes cash game player who has plenty of experience against the world’s best for astronomical amounts of money. That will come in handy, as he is joined at the final table by the likes of Connor Drinan, Jason Mercier, Fabian Quoss, Sam Greenwood and Fedor Holz, who has won two super high roller events since the start of December.

The final six will not resume play until Saturday, Jan. 30 at 2:10 PM local time, allowing them the chance to play in the Aussie Millions $10,600 no-limit hold’em main event, in which the third and final starting day is still yet to play.
