From today until Sunday, the Casino de Espinho hosts the third and last event of the first season of the PokerStars Portugal Poker Series. The tournament follows the first successful stages in Vilamoura last April, and Figueira da Foz in June.
Today's €770 event starts at 2pm local time, and players will get 15,000 starting chips to play 60-minute levels. In other words, it's an affordable buy-in with a big-tournament structure.
A few miles away from Oporto, the second biggest Portuguese city, Casino de Espinho has the biggest poker room in Portugal and is the traditional home of the biggest tournaments in the country, aside from the two EPT stages held in Vilamoura in seasons 6 and 7. With a capacity of up to 300 players, this is expected to be the biggest poker tournament of the year in Portugal and the biggest prize pool as well.
Moreover, Casino de Espinho is right beside the beach and, with unusual temperatures for this time of the year of 30ºC, don't be surprised if you see the cream of Portuguese poker players, including Team PokerStars Pros Nuno Coelho , Henrique Pinho and João Nunes, taking a dip right before heading to the tables.
