Gun Lake Tribe and Gun Lake Casino released details of a $76 million expansion that broke ground in January 2016. When it opens summer 2017 the casino can be almost twice its current size, and include a premiere buffet restaurant, a high limit gaming room, and a brand new Stage 131 entertainment lounge which will double the present size to provide enough seating to draw regional entertainers.
“This $76 million expansion will produce economic growth and more career opportunities for our tribal citizens and our friends and neighbors here in West Michigan,” said Ed Pigeon, acting chairman of the tribe and casino board. “We are proud to make a vital investment in our property for the joy of guests, which in turn will bring increased benefits to the local community.”
The $76 million expansion will add 73,000 square feet of space to the present 83,000 square foot facility. A 300-seat multi-station buffet will offer upscale dining choices that come with American, Italian, Mexican, and Asian cuisines. A completely new and relocated Stage 131 entertainment lounge can be twice its current size to provide enough seating to draw regional entertainers while continuing to showcase the most efficient local musicians.
The expansion will bring the overall selection of electronic gaming machines to 2,050 while bringing the overall collection of table games to 42. A new high limit gaming room will offer high stakes excitement in a spacious setting to cater to high rollers.
Gun Lake Casino team members will take pleasure in a brand new dining room and lounge. This area will include a break room, café, and private lockers. Each team member will continue to enjoy a complimentary meal on every shift.
“This is a big breakthrough within the development of Gun Lake Casino as a top-tier gaming entertainment venue,” said John Shagonaby, CEO of the Gun Lake Tribal Gaming Authority. “The addition of more gaming space, premiere buffet dining, and headline entertainers puts our property on par with any within the Midwest.”
Upon opening, the growth will employ 100 new team members, bringing the overall number to over 900 total team members. The construction phase will employ over 300-400 positions.
“Our guests are going to be thrilled with the brand new gaming, dining and entertainment amenities we can offer here at Gun Lake Casino. An already lively, yet comfortable and fun place for the most productive entertainment just got better,” said Brent Arena, vp and general manager.
Clark Construction was hired to function the development Manager at the project. Preliminary site work was completed this winter, and construction crews have started demolition work, in addition to footings and foundations for the building expansion. The northwest parking space might be closed during construction.
