  • Mark "dipthrong" Herm breaks down a large hand he played v. Daniel Negreanu late within the WSOP $3K 6-max.

  • Image, position & value betting are among concepts discussed on this Mark Herm-Daniel Negreanu hand.

Poker pro Mark Herm isn't any stranger to tournament success both live and online. Within the live arena he's amassed nearly $1.2 million in earnings, while online as "SHIPP ITT" and "dipthrong" he's collected well over $4 million in keeping with Pocket Fives' tally.

This week Herm added a fab $224,805 to his live total after taking third place in Event #21: $3,000 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em. While deep in his run, Herm took time during a break to talk with PokerNews' Sarah Herring about a captivating hand he played against Daniel Negreanu (who eventually finished 19th within the event).

The hand came on Day 3 with 19 players left, occurring just as Level 22 (8,000/16,000/2,000) was coming to a close.

"My image is batsh*t crazy," Herm begins, noting how he'd been three-betting so much and playing nearly every hand so that you can intimidate the table. "I play people who find themselves loose cannons," he adds later within the clip, "and it's tough — you do not need to get of their way."

Negreanu begins things with a raise to 35,000 from under the gun. It folds around to the small blind who calls, and Herm calls besides from the massive blind with K- Q- -suited.

The flop comes K-Hearts Q-Hearts 2-Hearts , and after the SB checks Herm opts to guide for 65,000, citing two reasons for doing so. First, he knows a lot of turn cards could easily reduce the worth of his hand, and second, his image is such that he knows he can bet his top two pair without being believed he's as strong as he is.

Negreanu calls and the third player folds, then another Q- falls at the turn to make a whole house for Herm. He bets and gets called again by Negreanu, and after a river blank there comes another bet-call. Watch and learn how the hand turned out:
