The final table of the primary event of the 2014 World Series of Poker Asia Pacific was an all-Australian affair. The $1,100 AUD buy-in no-limit hold’em accumulator drew a field of 661 entries with players turning out from world wide. After all Luke Brabin emerged victorious, taking home $131,365 AUD ($115,491 USD) and his first actual WSOP gold bracelet.
“It’s surreal obviously,” said Brabin after popping out on top. “I’ve never experienced anything like this. Only played 35 live tournaments in my life.”
In fact, this was the primary WSOP event that Brabin ever entered.
He entered the general table because the chip leader and made it right down to heads-up play with a huge chip lead lead over eventual runner-up Didier Guerin. At the final hand Guerin open shoved with the 98 from the button and was called by Brabin who held the KQ. The board ran out 7622Q and similar to that Brabin secured his biggest tournament win and the primary bracelet of the 2014 WSOP APAC.
