Crown Poker Tournament Director Joel Williams just took over the microphone to make a statement to the room.
"Players, we're one table from the money. That implies our 'First Card off the Deck' rule and 'No Headphones' rule at the moment are both in play," announced Williams.
Only problem was that with 81 players remaining, we were actually still two tables from the cash. A fact quickly talked about by Joe Hachem.
"I've just been corrected by the 2005 World Champion Joe Hachem. We're actually still two tables off the money," added Williams. "So put your headphones back in and sit anywhere you like!"
The warning could have been a bit premature nevertheless it was an even reminder for players of the rule of thumb changes here at Crown because the money approaches. The famous "First Card off the Deck" rule caused quite a few heated debate worldwide last year, but it's pretty much implemented here at Crown.
During the early stages of the tournament, players only need to be of their seats when the last card is dealt for his or her hands to be live, but if we're at the bubble, or within the money, they should be seated when the primary card comes off. It is a advisable method to apply the rule of thumb. There is no need for overly-strict interpretations early within the tournament, but if things get serious, and staff need room to transport around between tables at the bubble, you must keep players seated in place of wandering around going in the way.
It seems like we cannot quite reach the cash before the abbreviated dinner break. It is not really an entire dinner break, despite a whole nine levels being played today, however the next break can be a rather longer twenty minutes to provide everyone a possibility to snatch a bite to eat.
It's been a slightly eventful end to the extent as we have seen the fortunes of our two highest-profile players take a nosedive just in need of the cash.
Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang's rollercoaster ride has come to an end. After being one of the vital tournament chip leaders earlier within the day, Huang moved to a brand new table and lost a piece of his empire with a large bluff. Huang fired three barrels of fury on a 7♣Q♣5♦9♥8♣ board holding just 4♦2♦ for air, but he was never shaking Corey Kempson from his K♣J♣ flush.
Moments later Huang four-bet jammed his last chips with K♥Q♥ but ran smack bang into Vincent Chua's pocket aces. There has been no help for Huang and his tournament was over.
Also missing the cash is 2005 World Champion Joe Hachem. He was battling a brief stack for all the day, but was unable to succeed in his first career ANZPT cash, eliminated only some moments ago.
After dinner, we'll be just moments clear of the bubble, so we are hoping our players get plenty to eat. Otherwise there generally is a few nervous stomachs after the break.
