New England poker pro Bernard Lee on Dec. 18 donated holiday packages to greater than 75 children within the Lawrence, Mass. area as a part of The whole House Charity Program, which supplies at least $10,000 annually to organizations across New England that concentrate on needy children.
Chili’s Grill and Bar Restaurants and Eastern Poker Tour, a regional amateur poker league, are co-sponsors.
“There are few greater joys in life than seeing children smile through the holiday season. This special celebration has become one in every of my family’s favorite holiday events,” Lee said.
“I created the entire House Charity Program with one goal: to assist local families in need. It’s been a really rewarding and heart-warming experience.”
Lee and his children visited the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, 73D Winthrop Avenue, Lawrence, Mass., where they met with and handed out the packages to greater than 30 families and their greater than 75 children.
“Bernard Lee’s charity has brought hope and happiness to our groups within the years,” said Dr. Jeffrey S. Geller, director of Integrative Medicine and Group Programs on the health center.
“It’s not only that he's giving this year, it’s his consistency and track record that has made everyone feel special and look ahead to the vacations here on the Greater Lawrence Family Hospital Wellness Groups.”
Each family received gift certificates so as to cover the price of a family meal at Chili’s. Every child received a vacation package that incorporates winter clothing, books, Sports Illustrated for children magazines, board games, sports balls and toys. A few of the toys and games were donated by the Eastern Poker Tour and RunGoodGear poker pros.
Lee received and honored specific requests from every child.
Lee’s charity program, launched in February 2011, provides no less than $10,000 worth of products and fundraising annually to children-focused organizations within the New England area.
