According to reporting from Bloomberg, Paul Phua and his son, Darren Phua, are the one defendants remaining within the criminal case stemming from this summer’s raid on a villa at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The opposite defendants have pleaded guilty.
Eight people in total were arrested for the alleged illegal gambling operation.
Four men and one woman have agreed to plead to 1 count each of illegally transmitting wagering information and can forfeit about $1 million, Bloomberg reported.
None received jail time. They were hit with monetary penalties and a few received probation.
Charges were dropped against another individual.
Lawyers for the Phuas are arguing that the federal government violated their fourth amendment rights as it was an illegal search that ended in the indictment.
Paul Phua is understood for taking part in high-stakes cash games in Macau and Las Vegas. Him and his son received bail money from poker pro Phil Ivey. Over at the Internet, Phua has played under the entire Tilt screen name “MalACEsia” and lost millions at the software.
