It's deja vu at another Eureka Poker Tour event because for the third event in a row records was smashed. First Eureka3 Prague saw the largest ever field for the tour, a record it held until the very next event - Eureka4 Vienna. Now here in Rozvadov, another record have been broken for the largest ever standalone Eureka event with 493 players, 72 greater than this same event last year. Even still, the €500,000 guarantee has meant an overlay of €7,000 and the primary prize could be an overly impressive-looking €93,600.
Jiri Vana is the chip leader on the end of Day 1B, the Czech player won a few substantial pots right on the end of play to complete with 170,300; just prior to Briki Istavan (168,100) and PokerStars Player Christopher Frank (167,500). Other players who finished well included PokerStars Qualifier Jan Przysucha (149,700) and EPT Vienna Season 10 runner-up Anthony Ghamrawi (144,100). Despite his good stack, Ghamrawi was still slightly disappointed together with his finish saying glumly "I lost a few decent pots on the end."
A full list of chip counts for Day 2 will appear here overnight.
Friend of PokerStars Natalie Hof had a frustrating time after an even start, within the last level of the day she pushed for her last 10 big blinds with A♠8♠, WSOP bracelet winner Eddy Scharf reraised all in for 30,400 behind her with 8♥8♦ and Dmitry Ponomarev decided to offer them both a spin with J♦T♦. The Russian caught the T♣ at the turn, managing to eliminate both players.
Michael Eiler (71,500), the previous EPT Vienna winner, was one of the vital few bigger names to make it during the day unscathed after Blazej Przygorzewski, Marius Pospiech and Pius Heinz were all among those unable to make it past the primary day.
Tomorrow, the rest 151 players will play right down to the cash and beyond. There are 71 spots being paid meaning slightly below half the rest players will receive a payout. The PokerStars Blog will revert to the more traditional type of reporting when the bubble approaches to ensure you don't miss any of the action.
The restart begins at 2pm, we'll see then you definately!
