Report: Ohio State QB Miller reinjures shoulder

Oddsmakers tabbed Braxton Miller and the Buckeyes because the 5-4 fave to win the large 10 Championship game this season.

Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller, considered a preseason contender for the Heisman Trophy, re-injured his right shoulder in practice on Monday, the Columbus Dispatch reported.

Although the level of the injury was not known, the report indicated it puts his playing status for this season in jeopardy.

Sportsbooks have reacted by removing Ohio State from futures boards.

"It’s an enormous effect, hence we closed their Season Wins in addition to the Big 10 Championship," says Peter Childs of Sportsbook.ag. "We’ll further discuss, but they go from contender to an after thought if he’s out for the season."

Ohio State didn't release any statement regarding Miller's injury.

Ohio State is ranked No. 5 within the preseason Associated Press poll and is thought of as a contender to land one of the crucial berths within the four-team playoff to figure out a countrywide champion this season.

If Miller cannot play within the season opener on Aug. 30 against Navy, the Buckeyes probably will use redshirt freshman J.T. Barrett as their starting quarterback.

Miller had shoulder surgery last February after he suffered an injury to his right (throwing) shoulder within the Orange Bowl loss to Clemson.

He didn't take part in contact drills in the course of the spring, and was limited in what he did throughout the fall camp.

Last season, Miller completed 63.5 percent of his passes for twenty-four touchdowns and 7 interceptions and likewise ran for 1,068 yards and 12 touchdowns.
